Skin tags are a very common phenomenon known to people around the world. These skin tags occur irrespective of the gender or age. They can occur on any part of your body at any time. Yet, they dont seem to have any particular cause to them.
Our skin bends in so many areas. These bends start to form creases over time. These creases tend to create a lot of friction between them.
Even though there is no such evidence of the causes, researchers say that these tags could form due to the friction caused between the skin. Skin tags can also form due to the friction between the clothes/ jewelry and the skin. This is why people with excess wrinkles on their skin tend to have more skin tags. Along with people who have obesity. Even pregnant women are more prone to skin tags. Some areas on our body are more susceptible to skin tags than the others. Such as:
Behind the neck.
On the eyelids.
Under the breasts.
And behind the ears.
Skin tags may also be signs of the following pathological issues:
And basal cell nevus. (this is a genetic disease. The symptoms that occur on the skin look very similar to skin tags.)
NOTE: these conditions are not always the case when it comes to skin tags. These diseases only take place when there are other symptoms with skin tags.
Skin tags alone cannot be considered a problem as they are completely harmless and benign. These tags are by and large of a nuetral color. They do tend to have a darker color sometimes, but that is mostly due to hyperpigmentation.
Skin tags look like small drops of skin on the surface. They are formed of collagen fibers and blood vessels at the most. They do not contain nerve cells or fat cells in them. Lastly, they are covered with an epidermis. They hang off the skin with the help of a stalk called peduncle. The tags measure to be 2mm up to a few centimeters of its diameter. Even though a common anomaly, these skin tags are unsightly and uncomfortable for many people. A lot of them prefer to remove these tags, whilst preventing them. But many do not know the correct way to get rid of them.
What Should Be Avoided:
Although there are many methods to get rid of skin tags, neither are all of them safe nor are they easy to finish. For example:
There are roughly four different surgical procedures that can eliminate skin tags. Namely: Cauterization, cryosurgery, surgical removal with the help of sterilized scissors, or the dermatologists. Although the clinical procedures are very dependable, they can be a lot of extra work for you. You would first have to go through various appointments, then different tests, you will even need authorized permission for the removal. A lot of money is also spent on removing small masses of skin. Not only is this inconvenient, but also have permanent side effect post surgery, such as scars. Not to mention the amount of time spent during the whole procedure. After all this, there is no guarantee that the skin tags would stop appearing.
Many people also try to remove these skin tags home with various obnoxious methods. These methods could prove to be very harmful in the longer run. They either try to cut it off, burn it, freeze it or even tie it with floss. Not only are these methods painful, but could also prove to be infectious. Infections could also result in many harmful diseases. It is highly suggested that you do not try these methods at home.
These methods can be well avoided as there are better ways to get rid of skin tags. One such method is apple cider vinegar (ACV). It is one of the most common items found in the kitchens of many homes. This vinegar has benefits that range from sterilizing the wounds to baking cupcakes. The apple cider vinegar is a hack that has never been out of trends. It is being used for centuries to help people with their daily lives. It is being used against infections, cleaning wounds, sterilizing instruments, treating colds, boosting the weight loss process, etc. and now a new use for it is discovered, which we know as skin tags.
This vinegar is mainly formed by fermenting apples. Antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, astringent and laxative, are a few characteristics of apple cider vinegar. While astrigent property being the important one here. This property helps to dry the skin tags by removing their moisture, as well as destroying the tissue in it.
It is highly suggested that you use ACV that contains substance cellulose that is made of acetobacter. This substance is responsible to give the vinegar all the antibacterial properties.
If you wish to remove your skin tags with the help of a natural method, ACV is an appropriate choice which will help you get results, without major side effects. This method is quite acclaimed too, as it removes the tag safely without causing any pain. Although the tissues of the tags are destroyed, the skin surrounding the tags is not affected because of the ACV.
